Information Without Borders Conference – February 11

The Information Without Borders 2015 Conference is coming up on February 11, 2015! This one-day, student-led conference provides a forum for discussing relevant topics and encourages networking among students and faculty of the School of Information Management, as well as with professionals from the community.

The theme of this year’s conference is Information Management for Climate Change Adaptation, and will feature speakers and break-out sessions offering opportunities for conference attendees to discuss these topics and learn more.

Registration is open until February 2, 2015. Registration for students is $20 (plus fees), and registration for professionals and community members is $90 (plus fees). Click here for registration information.

PPD Session: Effective Interviewing

Register now for the Effective Interviewing PPD Session hosted by Management Career Services. This workshop will provide you with lots of useful information, advice, and tips on how to conduct yourself before, during, and after professional job interviews. Attendees will also learn about the different types of job interviews, as well as an overview of questions you may be asked and the ones that you should be asking.

The Effective Interviewing session will take place February 10, 2015 from 2:30-4pm in Rowe 3089. Registration is now open on MyCareer!

CLA Trivia Night – January 28

Do you know stuff?

The CLA Dalhousie Executive is excited to invite everyone to attend a trivia night on Wednesday, January 28th, held in the Games Room at the University Club, located at 1 Alumni Crescent. Doors will open at 5:30pm, and at 6:00pm we will begin the first round of trivia.

There will be food available for purchase at the Club (check out the menu) and some especially sweet prizes to win, so be sure to come prepared to think and eat!

You can vote for which film we’ll be screening – just indicate your choice on the sign-up sheet in the Common Room.

Reflections on Leadership, Resilience and Relationships

Please join us for the 2015 Dalhousie Horrocks National Leadership Lecture, proudly presented by SIM & Halifax Public Libraries.

This year’s lecture is entitled “Through the Looking Glass: Reflections on Leadership, Resilience and Relationships,” by Linda Cook, CEO of Edmonton Public Library. In her career, Linda Cook has shown outstanding leadership and has garnered national recognition for her work at EPL, which won the Library of the Year Award in 2014.

The Dalhousie Horrocks National Leadership Award will also be presented to SIM’s own Dominique Taylor.
