Elections for four open positions on the SIMSA Executive are about to begin!
SIMSA’s main objectives are to represent the SIM student body and to promote communications and cooperation among students, as well as between students and faculty. We work to foster relationships with other organizations in the Faculty of Management, as well as promote activities (academic and social) connected with our school.
With the elections, we are opening up an opportunity for you to help us continue to do these things! Please see the graphic below for information about each position and desired qualifications. Positions are:
Now for the nominations! Any full or part-time MI student, including those doing combined programs, is eligible to be nominated. You can nominate yourself or another person; if someone else has submitted your name for nomination, we will contact you to confirm your interest in the position.
Submit your nomination by sending an email to simsa@dal.ca. In the email, please share which position the nomination is for, as well as why you are nominating yourself or the other person. Also include a brief (250 word) statement of nomination, which will be shared with all MI students, about what makes you a good candidate. Please make sure the statement is clearly marked in your email!
Nominations will be open until Monday, 7 October at 11:59 p.m, after which voting will be conducted through an anonymous online poll. The candidate must obtain 50% + 1 of the votes to be elected.
If you have any questions, email us and we would be happy to help! Happy campaigning!
